After finishing second in 2021, Leon was keen on topping the podium this time. 2022 was off to a good start after 6th place at the Ironman World Champs in St George, and a podium at the Zarautzko Triatloia showed Leon was on good form. However an unlucky flat tyre at Ironman Vitoria had left Leon disappointed and he was set on winning his next race!

With the previous year’s experience and a good knowledge of the course, the weather and the race’s physiological demands, Leon powered away from the opposition on the mythical Alpe d’huez and claimed victory, finishing 18 minutes ahead of second place…
